Ron Kienzle is the owner and principal of River Radio Services. Ron retired in 2003 from his long career as an IT executive with a major insurance company. Still too young to simply go fishing, Ron started River Radio Services to provide services to people with the same passions he enjoys -- namely, Amateur Radio and boating.
Ron grew up in southern Idaho and was educated at Brigham Young University, Idaho State University, and the College of Southern Idaho. During his career he was relocated to Seattle, Denver, and finally to Cincinnati where he and his wife Sandy decided to stay and retire.
He received his first ham ticket in 1958 when he was 13. He quickly upgraded to General and was very active for many years. Education, family, and career slowed his hobby activities until 1982 when he upgraded at last to Amateur Extra. He is now KZ7P and spends most of his on-air time with morse code.
With his wife of 41+ years, he has 3 grown children and 8 grandchildren. Ron has recently finished studies at the Athenaeum of Ohio, becoming a Lay Minister of the Roman Catholic Church.
